It’s official, the 2008 Defensive Player of the Year has been awarded to the outstanding linebacker of the Tri City Charge, Matt Kane. Kane had a terrific season and became a true leader for the charge. Kane finished the 2008 season with over 50 combines tackles, 20 hurries, 5 ½ sacks, and 2 blocked punts. Coach Richardson said, "Kane can do it all." Defensive MVP honors came as no surprise to the charge roster as he made a name for him self by making big play after big play. Kane is a versatile outside linebacker capable of totaling 50+ tackles with a bushel of sacks, interceptions, forced fumbles and passes defensed. His nose for the ball is unmatched. Matt will continue to be a force for the Charge in there 2009 NEFL season.
